Voice Of Minnie Mouse Russi Taylor Passes Away At 75

According to a report from UPI.com, Russi Taylor, the voice actress who famously voiced Minnie Mouse, has passed away at the age of 75 at her home in Glendale, California.

Thus far, it isn’t clear how she died. For the better part of thirty years, Taylor was known for voicing the mouse in a variety of different productions, including theme park attractions as well as TV shows.

Bob Iger, the CEO of the juggernaut company, stated that Minnie Mouse lost the person who provided the voice for decades. UPI reports that Mrs. Taylor married Wayne Allwine in 1991, who provided the voice, coincidentally, to Mickey Mouse since the late 1970s.

Mr. Allwine passed away ten years ago in 2009. Taylor was a renowned voice actress, who worked on other productions including The Simpsons Movie, Babe, The Rescuers Down Under, The Lion Guard and Tangled: The Series, Sofia The First, Kim Possible, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, TaleSpin, and the first Ducktales.

A press release published by the studio described Mrs. Taylor as stating that she never cared about becoming famous; her characters’ fame was enough for her. As most North Americans know, Mickey and Minnie Mouse are two of the most iconic characters of all time, spanning nearly one hundred years.

Interestingly, Minnie Mouse actually received a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame last year. First drawn in 1928, nearly one hundred years ago, Minnie’s full name was actual Minerva claims the characters’ Wikipedia page, however, it’s seldom used, probably on account of its formality.

Minnie’s character started to appear less and less through the second half of the 1930s. But she came back to prominence almost fifty years later in the 1980s. Moreover, Minnie got her very own movie: Totally Minnie.

Totally Minnie was a musical television special aired in 1988 for NBC hosted by Suzanne Somers. Minnie later appeared in the immensely popular video game series, Kingdom Hearts, created through the collaboration between Disney and Square Enix
